      Francesca Pentimalli

      Francesca Pentimalli

      is an Italian cancer researcher and Associate Professor of General Pathology at the National Cancer Institute of Naples, IRCCS Fondazione Pascale, where she works at the CROM laboratories in Mercogliano. Her scientific career has focused on molecular oncology, cancer biology, and translational medicine, with particular expertise in cell cycle regulation, mesothelioma research, and molecular mechanisms involved in tumor progression.

      She graduated summa cum laude in Biological Sciences at the University of Naples Federico II and later obtained a PhD in Cellular and Molecular Genetics. She also specialized summa cum laude in Clinical Pathology and Clinical Biochemistry. Throughout her career, she has held several academic and research positions both in Italy and abroad, including appointments at Temple University, where she currently serves as Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Biology.

      Professor Pentimalli has also played an important editorial role in international scientific publishing. She worked in London as Assistant Editor for Nature Reviews Cancer and Nature Reviews Genetics published by the Nature Publishing Group. She later served as Co-Subject Editor for the “Reference Module in Life Sciences” by Elsevier and currently holds editorial positions with several leading journals, including Cell Death & Differentiation, Cell Death & Disease, the International Journal of Oncology, and Annals of Research in Oncology. She has also been Guest Editor for the journal Cancers (MDPI), coordinating the special issue “The Renaissance of CDK Inhibition in Cancer Therapy.”

      She has coordinated and supervised research activities within the “Cell Cycle and Cancer” laboratory at the Pascale Institute and has taught courses in General Pathology, Biochemistry, and Molecular Biology for healthcare degree programs at the University of Naples Federico II.

      Professor Pentimalli is an active member of several international scientific organizations, including the American Association for Cancer Research and the Mesothelioma Research Network of the British Lung Foundation. Her work continues to contribute significantly to the advancement of precision oncology and translational cancer research.
