Biographical note: Professor Antonio Giordano is an internationally renowned oncologist and molecular geneticist from Naples, Italy, and the founder, in 1993, of the Sbarro Health Research Organization (SHRO), a Philadelphia-based nonprofit organization devoted to advancing cancer research and promoting public health. Internationally recognized for his groundbreaking contributions to cancer genetics, particularly his studies on the RB2/p130 tumor suppressor gene, he serves as Director of the Sbarro Institute for Cancer Research and Molecular Medicine at Temple University. He also holds the position of Full Professor in Pathological Anatomical Sciences at the Department of Medical Biotechnology at the University of Siena and serves as Professor of Molecular Biology at Temple University in Philadelphia. Author of over 600 peer-reviewed scientific publications and holder of numerous patents, he has dedicated his career to translational research, the mentorship of young scientists, and the development of global initiatives aimed at improving cancer prevention, early detection, and innovative therapeutic strategies.
