is Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Department of Medicine and Health Sciences of the University of Molise in Campobasso, Italy. He graduated in 1992 from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Catania, where he also obtained his PhD in Neurobiology in 2000.

Previously, he worked as an Assistant Professor at the Blanchette Rockefeller Neurosciences Institute in Rockville, Maryland, and at the Institute of Neurological Sciences of the Italian National Research Council (CNR). He has also served as a Visiting Scientist at the NINDS, National Institutes of Health (NIH), in Bethesda, Maryland, and at the Northwick Park Institute for Medical Research in Harrow, United Kingdom. He is Vice President of SINUT.
